Drawing from an influential palette of Elvis Costello, Steve Earl, and The Beatles, Texas singer-songwriter Lee Alexander offers no apologies on his debut release, Out of Place. Biting satire is sprinkled throughout the songs, reinforcing the old adage that "art doesn't forgive.” Heralded by the Houston Chronicle as one of the top albums of 2006, Out of Place reveals Alexander's push to mix things up stylistically and use a myriad of organic instrumentation to build a good song. His catchy melodies and razor sharp lyrics recently placed him as: a finalist in the 2007 Independent Music Awards, a winner in the 2007 IMA Vox Populi Competition, and a semifinalist in the 2005 UK Songwriting Contest. He was also selected as a featured artist in the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest’s NAMM showcase, the 2006 Houston Press Music Awards (where he was nominated in five catagories), and as a Sonicbids Spotlight Artist. A conscientious observer, Alexander's songs do not shy away from addressing political issues. He also continues to donate a portion of performance proceeds to human rights initiatives through Amnesty International, The Adopt-A-Minefield program, and Pacifica Radio. In addition he also assists in performing benefits for with AI, The Rise School, and the Red Cross to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina.
