Kevin Forrest's music is influenced by such as artists as Kate Bush, Annie Lennox and the Smiths yet remains a style all of it's own. Forrest's music ranges from a full band pop sound to folk and acoustic sessions featuring Kevin's strong vocals.
Kevin Forrest grew up listening to a wide range of music and musical infleunces which ranged from Dolly Parton and Blondie in the late 70's to Kate Bush and the Eurythmics in the late 80's and early 90's. After singing vocals for country and western and experimental bands in the early 90's, Kevin decided to write his own music and cover the songs by artists that had influenced him growing up. In the early 90's Kevin released his first independent album entitled "Regrets" featuring 11 original tunes. Regrets was very much an acoustic/folk album due to the musical influences of Kevin and the individuals who produced the album. Kevin's second album "An Beal Bocht" was written and conceived in Dublin, Ireland in 1994 and featured another 11 more original tunes and a cover of Enya's "Evening Falls". The An Beal Bocht album had a poppier feel and more of a full band sound than the first album Forrest released. The influences of Kate Bush and Annie Lennox were much stronger in the second album, especially in the songs "Jezebel" and "Annie". Kevn's third album was entitled "Wearing Thin" and featured a much more refined sound than his previous two albums. By the third album, Kevin's unique lyrical style and sound were definitely apparent. Kevin wrote and dedicated a haunting tribute to Mathew Shepard (Mathew's Song) who had died during the making of this album. On his fourth album, "All About the Boy", Kevin continues move his listeners with his haunting vocals and lyrics depicting love, loss and magic. Kevin performs a rivetting acoustic version of REM's "The One I Love" on this album.
