16-year-old singer/songwriter/performer Dakota has been in the studio recording her own original music with some of the biggest writer/producers in the record industry. She has won many awards for her songwriting including the prestigious American Idol Underground song competition. Dakota is currently lead singer of a teen pop/rock band in Southern California. Young Dakota Wade is a pop sensation in the making. Already this prolific songwriter has written more than 100 tunes and she’s just 16! “I'm always in the process of writing music, even in my sleep or at school,” says Dakota.Her latest single, “F-Word” was co-written by writer/producers Danielle Brisebois (Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” and “Pocketful of Sunshine”) and Wayne Wilkins (Bedingfield/Sean Kingston’s “Love Like This”) and boasts Nick Lashley (Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne and Mick Jagger) on guitar.It deals with the kind of struggles Dakota’s youthful audience faces. Specifically, it addresses that one relationship situation in which the word ‘friend’ is not a positive. In that context, ‘FRIEND’ is the “F-Word.”“It’s the most dreaded word in the language of love that everyone hates to hear when they want to be more than friends,” Dakota explains.The song has its own quirky flavor but also echoes the kind of energy, melodies and vocal performances to be found throughout Dakota’s work. Her dynamic, unique personality and remarkable musical talent shine through full blast.Though not even a legal adult yet, Dakota is nonetheless a seasoned performer who has been in a recording studio making original songs since she was nine. So far she is most well-known for the tune “Mistake,” which took top honors in the 2007 American Idol Underground Song competition. Dakota has also nabbed a number of other songwriting awards.She takes the stage in such hot L.A. venues as the Rainbow Room, the Pig n Whistle and Universal City Walk.
