Biography
New York has a way of putting things in perspective: we all have to give something up in order to do what we love most. The four of us came here not really knowing what to expect or how we were going to find that perfect combination of 4 people with special chemistry. Hailing from places like Russia, Mexico, India and the US, with a wide range of musical influences such as brit pop, heavy metal, new wave, soul and rockabilly, it was an easy choice to make. We had to go for it!
Bringing those influences to the table, putting them through the grinder and coming up with our own sound was a difficult but ultimately exhilarating process. The sound of 3RD CULTURE was born in the moments of sudden inspiration when music takes over and we have no choice but follow. The results are poignant and upbeat songs, with powerful and emotional vocals.
In the short time that we've lived in New York, we've packed the house at places like CBGBs and the Mercury Lounge, riding high on the intensity of playing live. At one of our recent shows someone made a comment that we look mad on stage. We're not mad, we're manic!
We wanted to find a name that was unique and that we could personally relate to. The term 3RD CULTURE is used to describe people who spend a significant portion of their lives in a country other than their home country. Eventually the elements from each culture are assimilated into a 3RD CULTURE. You see it every day in New York City, the most diverse and dynamic human experiment of all.
